administratively, geographically, demographically, economically.

 

On this day, we speak a brief summary of the administrative divisions in the Republic of Iraq and what are the countries that have borders with Iraq from the four sides

 

Iraq is a federal republic located in the heart of the Middle East, it is bordered to the north by the Turkish Republic, while it is bordered to the northwest by Syria, while from the west it has borders with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

In the southwest, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia lies, and from the south, the State of Kuwait represents the southern neighbor of Iraq

In the east, the border with Iran forms the longest land border with Iraq, stretching from mountains to plateaus, plains, and shallow waters.

 

There are 18 governorates in Iraq, which are as follows

                                                                          Baghdad province

 consider capital of the country since the founding     and forms the  of modern Iraq in 1921, and the Tigris River divides it into two sections,  the right side is called Al-Karkh and  the left side, it is called Rusafa. From the river, Imam Abu Hanifa, in adhamiya district 

 The city of Babylon

The city of Babel, 100 kilometres south of Baghdad, and its center is the city of Hilla, and there are the oldest ancient places that humanity has known within the world heritage.

 Diyala province 

 

  Diyala is located to the east of Baghdad and its capital, Baquba, is famous for growing oranges fruits 

   Dhi Qar province       

 Dhi Qar Governorate is located to the south of Baghdad and its center is the city of Nasiriyah, which is the birthplace of the Prophet Ibrahim, the grandfather of the prophets


Salah al-Din province  

Salah al-Din Governorate, located to the north of Baghdad, and it contains religious shrines and many archaeological monuments, such as the shrine of the Military Imams and the Malwiya Samarra

Al-Anbar province

 Al-Anbar Governorate is considered the largest governorate of Iraq with an area and its center is the city of Ramadi and is famous for its ancient customs and traditions and generosity and hospitality.

Nineveh province

Nineveh governorate is called Umm Al-Rabiain because of the beauty of its nature and its serenity and is located in the far north of Iraq and this province is considered the first governorate to fall under the occupation of the Islamic State in Iraq (isis) and the terrorist Levant in 2014 before being liberated by the Iraqi army and the joint forces

Dohuk, Erbil, and Sulaymaniyah

 Provinces of the Kurdistan Region (Dohuk, Erbil, and Sulaymaniyah). These three governorates form northern Iraq, which is famous for its resorts, waterfalls, majestic mountains, and walnut trees. These three governorates are the only provinces where the federal system is applied in Iraq while the other governorates are centrally managed by the government

Basra province 

Basra Governorate is located in the southernmost part of Iraq and is the only sea port for Iraq through its view of the Arabian Gulf by 60 km as a marine coast in the city of Al-Fao

Maysan province 

 Maysan governorate with its capital, Amara, famous for marshes and fishing in shallow waters

Al-muthanna province

- Al-Muthanna Governorate is dominated by the desert environment and its capital is the city of Samawah

Al-Qadisiyah province

 Al-Qadisiyah Governorate, with its capital, Al-Diwaniyah City

Wasit province 

 Wasit governorate and its capital is the city of Kut

 kirkuk province 

Kirkuk governorate is considered the meeting place of Arab, Kurdish and Turkmen culture, as it is famous for the diversity of nationalities and ethnicities

Najaf province 

 Najaf Province This province is considered one of the central Euphrates governorates, and it is famous for the shrine of Imam Ali and a number of ancient mosques, as well as a water body called the Najaf Sea for its capacity.

Karbala province 

Karbala Governorate This governorate includes the Husseiniya and Abbasid threshold, which is visited by millions of visitors annually from all over the world
